DONE DEAL: Norwich City sign another Ipswich Town youngster to a huge contract deal

The teenager, who joined Ipswich Town’s academy back in 2015, had been on trial with Norwich City over the past month, featuring in two of their last three U18 league fixtures. He has now signed a one-year contract with Norwich’s development squad, which includes an option to extend for an additional year.
The teenager, who joined Ipswich Town’s academy back in 2015, had been on trial with Norwich City over the past month, featuring in two of their last three U18 league fixtures. He has now signed a one-year contract with Norwich’s development squad, which includes an option to extend for an additional year.
Although he also spent time on trial at Stoke City—another Championship side—Towler was part of the Norwich U21 group that traveled to Portugal for their end-of-season tour. He has not signed professional terms with Ipswich, who were recently relegated from the Premier League, meaning he is free to make a move this summer.
“I’m thrilled to be joining such a big club. It’s a great step in my career and I’m eager to get started,” Towler told the club’s media. “I’m a midfielder who’s confident on the ball and not afraid of a challenge.”
“It’s a bit strange after spending a decade at Ipswich, but I’m really excited to now be a Norwich player. Being on trial here has definitely helped me settle in. The trip to Portugal with the Under-21s was an amazing experience and gave me a chance to bond with the squad.”
“I want to continue learning and improving my game, and then see where it leads me.”
Norwich have evaluated his potential closely and have added him to their development setup for the upcoming season, with Towler expected to feature for Olly Lee’s U21 team.
Earlier this season, Towler captained Ipswich in their FA Youth Cup third-round loss to Bournemouth and has experience playing for their U21 side. If the move to Norwich is finalized, he’ll reunite with academy coaches Lee and Adem Atay, both of whom previously worked in Ipswich’s youth ranks.
Liam Gibbs made a similar switch in 2021 and has since made 75 senior appearances for Norwich.
