Carlos Forbs receives shock offer from Champions League club after leaving Wolves

Wolves have made some disastrous signings over the years, and unfortunately, the acquisition of Carlos Forbs in 2024 was one of them.

Wolves loaned Carlos Forbs from Ajax on transfer deadline day in a desperate attempt to replace Pedro Neto, who joined Chelsea for £54 million.

The 21-year-old never truly showcased his quality at Molineux, making just 11 appearances across all competitions and playing just 29 minutes under Vitor Pereira.

Pereira even admitted that Forbs wasn’t good enough to play in his system, seeing him as someone who was better suited to a formation with wingers.

There was an acceptance that a transfer for the former Manchester City man failed dramatically, and with Ajax looking to sell Forbs after his disastrous spell, he could be in line for a shock move elsewhere.

Club Brugge have made an offer for Carlos Forbs

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that Belgian Pro League side Club Brugge have made a 5m (£4.3m) offer to Ajax for Forbs with talks underway.

The Dutch giants, however, are holding out for more after paying around £12 million to Manchester City for the winger in 2023.

Club Brugge doesn’t strike many people as an attractive destination for young players, but remarkably, Forbs moving to Belgium would hand him the chance to play in the Champions League.

Considering how poor he was at Wolves, the fleet-footed winger would surely be tempted by this opportunity, perhaps seeing it as a chance to get his career back on track.

Wolves made it clear they didn’t want Forbs to return after his struggles throughout the campaign, and some will be shocked he could be playing in Europe’s elite competition in 2025/26.

Forbs is a reminder of what Wolves shouldn’t do this summer

In their attempts to replace Neto in 2024, Wolves exhausted a lot of their options without truly showing the ambition to find a successor.

Ultimately, they were left panicking in the final months of the window, which saw Forbs join on loan from the Eredivisie.

Wolves paid the price for not planning, as demonstrated by the winger’s disappointing campaign, serving as a reminder of what not to do during this transfer window.

Right now, the Wanderers aren’t learning from their mistakes, having only captured Fer Lopez on a permanent transfer so far.

But, with Wolves close to completing two more signings if reports are true, it is hoped Fosun can pull their fingers out soon and get some quality additions over the line.

Wolves are heavily interested in Jhon Arias, the talented Colombian who lit up the Club World Cup, and he would be the ideal Matheus Cunha replacement.

Though failing to land Arias and their other key targets could see the Old Gold fall behind and experience similar heartache to last summer.
