The Friedkin Group ruffle a few feathers as priority given amid Everton and Roma’s interest in Evan Ferguson

With Everton securing the signing of Thierno Barry, it’s unlikely another striker will be welcomed.

This doesn’t mean there isn’t a possibility of this though, as Beto could still leave Everton, opening up a space.

Fellow Premier League side Leeds United have been a club looking into the prospect of the 27-year-old after his solid form in the second half of the season for Everton.

If this is to be the case, Everton could re-emerge on Evan Ferguson’s radar, as the Irishman has an uncertain future at Brighton.

The 20-year-old will more than likely leave Fabian Hurzeler’s side this summer, and The Friedkin Group have found themselves in a slight dilemma.

Ferguson seemed quite nailed on to join up with David Moyes in January, but instead the youngster chose to reunite with his former boss Graham Potter at West Ham.

It’s clear that since his early days at Brighton, the striker has struggled to replicate his early success, which made Ferguson worth £100m at one stage.

Ferguson is desperate to find this rejuvenation, and it won’t come with the Irons after a failed loan spell.

This could see Everton go back in for the Irishman, but after Roma have shown recent interest in Ferguson, The Friedkins now have a situation.

The print edition of Corriere dello Sport reports that Everton recently ‘stepped up their efforts’ to sign Ferguson on loan with an option to buy from Brighton, but stepped away once they learned of Roma’s interest.

With the multi-club model having a part to play in this transfer, the owners are thought to believe Ferguson will have a bigger role at Roma and, there is a ‘promise’ that Roma will take ‘priority’ of his services this summer.

Ferguson could become part of multi-club model deal for Everton

As the striker looks set to embark on a new adventure in Rome, Everton’s interest still remains relevant, but it doesn’t look like Ferguson’s £45m price tag will be paid.

It seemed certain that the Toffees would sign the striker, with many Everton fans believing that Moyes could transform Ferguson once more.

However, this could still be in the pipeline further down the way if Ferguson’s move doesn’t quite work out.

The report also states that there is a possibility that if Roma were to buy him and then subsequently decide to sell him that Ferguson could be sold to Everton.

This has already been seen with Wesley’s deal at Everton, which could be set to benefit Everton’s PSR in a smart ploy.

So, The Friedkins might not be very active in the window so far, but they’re doing a few deals which could work for Everton’s long-term future.
