Conor Coady arrives amid huge Rangers transfer development

Leicester City defender Conor Coady appears to be a priority transfer target for Rangers this summer.
Despite signing Max Aarons, Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez, the Ibrox outfit are still keen on another centre-back.
Coady appears likely to leave Leicester following their relegation to the Championship.

Conor Coady returns for pre-season training at Leicester
According to the Daily Record (10 July), the 32-year-old has returned for pre-season training at Leicester.
However, this does not mean that his move to Glasgow is off the cards.
Rangers are in advanced talks to sign Coady, but the deal is not yet over the line.
Competition | Appearances | Minutes Played |
---|---|---|
Premier League | 22 | 1,714′ |
FA Cup | 1 | 90′ |
EFL Cup | 3 | 198′ |
Total | 26 | 2,002′ |
Coady’s stats last season.
He is in the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium and Leicester are keen on getting him off the wage bill.
Coady recently teased a move to Gers as well, with a jersey of the SPFL giants likely in it.
Rangers appear to be taking too long with the Coady saga
Rangers’ prolonged pursuit of Coady risks undermining their transfer strategy and could allow rival clubs to swoop in.
The 32-year-old defender, with 10 England caps, brings leadership and experience, but the drawn-out negotiations, ongoing since June, highlight indecision at Ibrox.
With Leicester relegated and Coady’s contract in its final year, his availability is well-known, potentially attracting interest from other clubs.
Rangers’ delay, compounded by complications in finalising the deal, risks losing a player keen on the move.
Russell Martin’s focus on Coady to bolster the defence for the Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos is clear, but the slow progress could see Gers miss out on a key signing.
This hesitation may signal weakness to competitors, potentially costing them a proven leader and in jeopardy of digging their own grave in a competitive transfer market.
