Rangers welcomed Club Brugge in their first pre-season fixture on Sunday, battling to a 2-2 draw.

Russell Martin’s side got off to the worst possible start as they found themselves two goals behind in just 13 minutes, with a makeshift defence ripped to shreds by the Belgian giants.

However, Rangers showed fighting spirit as they improved in the second half and salvaged a draw in the dying minutes in their return to Ibrox.

Mohamed Diomande and Findlay Curtis scored to save their side from defeat, and Ibrox News have now picked out three key points from the match.

Curtis deserves a first-team chance

Curtis had a brief breakthrough into the Rangers’ first team last season, but it is clear that he deserves further opportunities under Martin.

The teenager was the best of a bad bunch in the first half, before truly coming alive in the second period, and his equalising goal was the icing on the cake of a very bright performance.

With Rangers potentially set to sell several attackers, Curtis could be given more chances in the coming months, and this may be the year he becomes a true member of the first-team squad.

Rangers need to address striker situation urgently

Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane were both absent from the squad as they have both been linked with moves elsewhere.

Danilo started upfront, but aside from a few bright moments of hold-up play, failed to impress and offered very little threat in front of goal.

Rangers need to recruit a new striker urgently if they are to start the season well, with it clear that Danilo cannot be trusted as the main option to lead the line.

Robin Propper was surprisingly included in the starting line-up, despite being linked with a move back to FC Twente in the summer transfer window.

Rangers saw their defence ripped apart in the opening period, and Propper was again disastrous at the back, with Leon King also failing to impress.

While Martin may have been keen on taking a closer look at Propper, the 30-year-old did nothing to show he has a future at Ibrox beyond this summer.
