Tottenham face competition from Champions League club for £25m Hayden Hackney

Tottenham Hotspur have now learned that they face a significant challenger in their efforts to land Hayden Hackney, with a Champions League club now turning their attention to the Middlesbrough man.
As soon as Boro failed to win promotion to the top flight, Hackney was always going to become the subject of heavy transfer interest, and that is exactly what is transpiring.
The midfielder’s stellar displays in the Under-21 European Championship, which England won, have only served to intensify the interest in his services.
It was reported a couple of weeks ago that Spurs were evaluating Hackney’s performances at the UEFA U21 Euros, and are ready to push ahead with a move for the 23-year-old.
However, the Lilywhites are facing competition from several Premier League sides for Hackney and it emerged just a few days ago that Crystal Palace have signalled a concrete interest in the Boro starlet.

Bayer Leverkusen may have Hayden Hackney advantage over Tottenham
A new report in talkSPORT has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace want Hackney, but those two clubs now have a new European challenger to contend with.
Bayer Leverkusen have now entered the race to sign the Englishman and are set to push ahead with a move for him.
The outlet says that Hackney could be tempted to follow in the footsteps of several young English players who have made the move to the Bundesliga in search of regular game time, including former Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
Additionally, the report reveals that the Boro star has signed with SEG agency, who also represent new Leverkusen boss Erik ten Hag, and this might give the German side an upper hand in the race.
How much is Hackney expected to cost?
A few weeks ago, it was reported that Middlesbrough are holding out for £25m for Hackney, who has two years left on his contract at the Riverside Stadium.
One would have expected the Championship club’s asking price to have gone up in light of the midfielder’s performances in the Euros.
However, it emerged earlier his week that Palace believe that they can land Hackney for just £15m this summer.
