‘Everton ready formal Wilfred Ndidi offer after contract snub’

Everton are planning to reignite their interest in signing Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and are weighing up making a formal offer.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 28-year-old is set to weigh up his options ahead of a “definite” summer move.

Ndidi is believed to have a £9million release clause in his Leicester contract, which has put a number of top clubs across Europe on alert.

The Toffees’ interest has been long-standing, after Football Insider revealed in June 2024 that Everton wanted to sign Ndidi as a free agent when his contract expired.

However, the midfielder opted against a move to Goodison Park and instead put pen to paper on a new deal with the Foxes upon their return to the top flight.

Now with Leicester relegated to the Championship once again, David Moyes‘ side are prepared to rival other interested clubs for his signature.

Everton set sights on £9million Wilfred Ndidi deal

Having already lost Abdoulaye Doucoure this summer, Everton are planning to strengthen their midfield, while talks continue over Idrissa Gueye’s contract.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that Ndidi has been on the Toffees’ radar and they are prepared to get a deal over the line.

Everton are considering signing Wilfred Ndidi,” he told Football Insider.

“It’s a move I expect he will be open to as well, the chance to get straight back into the Premier League after getting relegated with Leicester.

“They’ve been keen on him for a while and he’s a very solid player.

“Everton have had scouts watching his performances and he’s been one of Leicester’s better players.

“It might prove difficult to get over the line because there are a lot of clubs who have been made aware of that release clause he’s got.

“But I expect them to make an attempt to bring him in ahead of these clubs.

“Either way, it looks like he’s definitely leaving Leicester.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin twist emerges amid West Ham interest

One player who has already left Everton this summer is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who decided to depart upon the expiry of his contract on Merseyside.

Brown told Football Insider on 2 July that West Ham have considered signing Calvert-Lewin and he has been mentioned behind the scenes at the London Stadium.

However, the Hammers have had second thoughts about making an offer amid concerns about the striker’s fitness record and wage demands.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that Newcastle and Fulham are interested in Calvert-Lewin as he will have options to remain in the Premier League.
