Southampton player to arrive on private jet at 9.30pm tonight to complete transfer

Southampton forward Paul Onuachu will today travel to Turkey ahead of his transfer to Trabzonspor.

The 31-year-old has been linked with a return to his former club for most of the past year and last week it was announced he would be finally be signing for them.

Sabah report the Nigeria international will arrive, via private jet, in Trabzon at 9.30pm local time ahead of being officially announced as a player for the Super Lig club.

It’s reported negotiations with Southampton have been finalised, but there was delay in the player arriving in Turkey due to visa procedures. The attacker will be accompanied by his family on the private jet.

Southampton and Trabzonspor have been locked in transfer talks in recent weeks, as they struggled to agree a transfer fee. Last week there was a breakthrough in negotiations and the Saints agreed to Trabzonspor’s latest offer. Onuachu will reportedly sign a three-year contract.

Onuachu spent the 2023/24 season on loan with Trabzonspor before returning to St Mary’s last summer. During his time in Turkey, he scored an impressive 17 goals in 25 gamers and has been keen to return to the Super Lig.

Arrival times are important in Turkish football as it encourages the tradition of fans meeting new signings at the airport.
