The two Wolves players who’ve returned to training at Compton early, one is looking ‘very good’

Vitor Pereira has been handed a double boost ahead of pre-season as two Wolves stars returned to Compton Park for early training.

The 2024/25 campaign was a difficult one for the Old Gold, but things certainly took a positive turn once Pereira arrived. 

Pre-season will be crucial for the Wolves manager to assess his squad ahead of the new footballing calendar, particularly amid the transfer window. 

The boss’s squad has already changed significantly through key losses, and Pereira will be focused on not entering the new season without a fully stocked side. 

Yerson Mosquera and Sasa Kalajdzic spotted at Compton

Lack of squad depth was a huge problem for Gary O’Neil, an issue not eased by injuries to key players. 

Pereira had to sign two centre-backs in January to replenish his options in the Wolves squad as Yerson Mosquera’s ACL injury threw a spanner into the works early in the campaign.

Mosquera started the season well, but his progression came to a devastating halt on match day five as a knee injury ruled him out for the entire 2024/25 calendar. 

Now, Mosquera is ready and raring to make a name for himself at Wolves, aiming to pick up where he left off. 

The Colombian posted a photo of himself back at Compton in his Wolves training kit, alongside another rarely-seen face, as Sasa Kalajdzic trained alongside the defender. 

On Instagram, Mosquera shared that Kalajdzic was ‘very good’ in the isolated training session, which is encouraging for Pereira amid changes to Wolves’ attack.

It’s unclear whether Kalajdzic will go on loan this summer to rebuild his match fitness, but if the Austrian stays, he certainly offers the Old Gold a quality option to use in rotation. 

Injuries have been a nightmare for Kalajdzic

There are few players who have had worse luck than Kalajdzic over the years on the injury front.

After suffering an ACL tear in September 2022, the striker then suffered the same devastating injury in February 2024.

The recovery of an ACL injury and surgery is extensive, limiting the Austria international’s game time over the past three years quite significantly. 

Seeing Kalajdzic back on grass is a sight to behold, and there’s no question that the 27-year-old will be desperate to make a name for himself at Wolves, having only played 14 times in Old Gold since his 2022 transfer.
