Liverpool fans have issued a warning to Real Madrid after seeing what Trent Alexander-Arnold did just minutes into his debut.

Alexander-Arnold was handed a place in the starting XI for Real‘s Club World Cup opener against Al Hilal following his high-profile transfer from Liverpool.

He took up a position at right-back and Liverpool fans were quick to react to his first showing for his new club.
Al Hilal got off to a blistering start and enjoyed spells of success from the England international’s side.

The Saudi Pro League side capitalised on Alexander-Arnold’s mistake in the 19th minute as Renan Lodi opened the scoring before his effort was ruled out for offside.

The moment prompted Liverpool fans to send a warning to Real, claiming it was a ‘sample’ and a ‘taste’ of things to come.

One X user wrote: “Real Madrid just got a sample of the defending they can expect from Trent Alexander-Arnold. He’s lucky that flag went up lol.”

A second added: “Real Madrid just got a taste of Trent Alexander-Arnold having next to zero defending instincts.”

A third commented: “Get used to it lads.”

Another said: “Looooool 18 mins in and Trent Alexander-Arnold was out of position got done by Renan Lodi, who scored, but it was offside.”
Alexander-Arnold, however, showed off his range of passing when he picked out a pass to set up a stunning counter-attack, resulting in a goal – with Gonzalo Garcia slotting home from close range.

He has also been stepping into midfield rather than staying wide, attempting to influence the game.

Al Hilal levelled just seven minutes later when Ruben Neves sent Thibaut Courtois the wrong way to convert a penalty.

Speaking at the break, former Champions League winner John Obi Mikel said Alexander-Arnold must ‘tighten’ up his defensive work but hailed his ability to go forward.
