Sudden Departure from Barcelona: Hansi Flick Gives the Green Light to Complete the Sale of the Standout Player

Spanish reports have revealed that Barcelona is preparing a surprising sale, with German coach Hansi Flick approving the move despite the player’s strong performances toward the end of last season. The club is currently making limited squad adjustments ahead of the new season,

with sporting director Deco actively scouting the market to fulfill Flick’s demands and reinforce key positions. However, before any new signings can be made, Barcelona must offload several players to free up salary space and comply with financial regulations. Several squad members have already been placed on the transfer list,

including Ansu Fati, Iñaki Peña, Pablo Torre, and Pau Víctor. Additionally, the club is open to offers for key players like Ronald Araújo and Fermín López. In a surprising twist, a new name has emerged as a potential departure: Gerard Martín, who impressed during Alejandro Balde’s injury absence last season.

Martín delivered standout performances, including a memorable Champions League display against Inter Milan, where he provided two crucial assists. Despite this, Flick does not see him as a long-term solution. The German coach believes Barcelona needs a more reliable backup for Balde, who has struggled with injuries. This has led to strong interest in former La Masia product Alejandro Grimaldo.

Grimaldo, currently excelling at Bayer Leverkusen, has a modest €15 million release clause. His experience in Europe and recent form for Spain make him an appealing target. Meanwhile, Barcelona has received an offer from Wolverhampton for Gerard Martín. The club is considering the proposal but prefers a loan deal rather than a permanent sale.

This potential move highlights Flick’s desire to reshape the squad according to his vision, even if it means parting ways with a promising talent. As the transfer window progresses, Barcelona’s decisions will be crucial in balancing financial constraints with sporting ambitions.
