Hansi Flick is pushing to bring his former star to Barcelona, and the player immediately agrees despite objections from Deco and Laporta!

Barcelona’s new manager, Hansi Flick, is reportedly pushing the club to sign his former Bayern Munich player Ivan Perisic, despite resistance from sporting director Deco and president Joan Laporta. According to *Mundo Deportivo*, Flick sees the 36-year-old Croatian as a valuable addition due to his versatility, experience, and strong recent form with PSV Eindhoven.
Perisic registered 16 goals and 11 assists last season, helping PSV win the Eredivisie. Flick believes Perisic could provide leadership and tactical flexibility to Barcelona’s attack, especially as a low-cost option. The player is said to be eager to join and willing to adjust his salary demands to facilitate the move.
However, Deco and Laporta are hesitant about signing an aging player when younger targets like Luis Díaz and Alejandro Grimaldo are also being considered. The club’s hierarchy prefers long-term investments over short-term fixes. Despite the internal disagreement, Flick’s strong endorsement—based on their successful partnership at Bayern Munich,
where they won the Champions League in 2020—could influence the final decision. Perisic’s potential arrival would be on a free transfer, making him a financially viable option. However, his signing may depend on outgoing transfers, with fringe players like Gerard Martín possibly making way. The Croatian is one of four names currently under review by Barcelona’s recruitment team.
Flick is keen to reinforce the squad quickly ahead of the new season, but the club must balance immediate needs with future planning. If the deal goes through, Perisic would add depth to Barcelona’s attack, offering experience in both domestic and European competitions.
His ability to play across the front line and in midfield could prove useful over a long season. The situation highlights the ongoing power dynamics at Barcelona, where the manager’s preferences clash with the board’s strategic vision.
Flick’s influence in transfers will be tested as the club navigates this negotiation. As discussions continue, all eyes will be on whether Laporta and Deco relent or if Flick will have to explore alternative targets. Either way, Barcelona’s transfer activity is heating up.
